Do Good Work

May 20, 2014 By Erin Beasley

Do Good Work

Observe people who are good at their work –
skilled workers are always in demand and admired;
they don’t take a backseat to anyone.
Proverbs 22:29 (The Message)

Good work isn’t ostentatious; it doesn’t need to be. Good work calls attention to itself because it is good work. It is elevated to a place of honor by others. It doesn’t seek that honor itself or claim it. Good work is humble and has no need to brag. Remember: good work is good work.

Good work needs no defense or offense. Even when it needs a correction or two, it doesn’t flail in anger. It accepts the criticism, makes the necessary changes, and moves forward with being good work. Minor errors are as nothing to it because it is good work. It just needs a little finessing to turn it into great work.

As for the workers who create that work, their lives echoes their work. They don’t seek out the spotlight, but they won’t shrink away if pushed into it. They claim their good work; they’re aren’t falsely humble. They end up doing great things because they focus on doing good work in every opportunity, every circumstance. They live with purpose because of the talent given them. When they’re responsible with what they’ve been given, they won’t be found in the backseat. Oh, no. They will be pushed to the front of the crowd. They’ll be given the royal treatment because they do good work, and good work is good work. It simply stands out no matter how far in the back of the room it is.
