Your Employees are not Psychic

July 19, 2012 By Erin Beasley

Unless your employees have crystal balls, it's a good idea to share your vision with them.If you’re a business owner or entrepreneur, you have a vision for your company. You cherish it. You might coddle it (I hope not.). You try to keep it safe. You try to make it a reality.

Why You Need to Get Lost

July 17, 2012 By Erin Beasley

Getting lost is easy to do. It's getting found that's hard.I hate getting lost. I don’t like to get lost in Ikea. I definitely don’t like to get lost when I’m headed to a meeting. I start to panic even though I know I can ask a sales clerk for directions, or I can call the person I’m meeting and tell him or her I’m going to be late.

It pushes the creative person to try something new, to explore different facets, to embrace the terror of the unknown. That criticism may be harsh at times, but it’s given in a spirit of good will. It isn’t given simply to be given.

The Two Best Words

June 27, 2012 By Erin Beasley

The two best words are I'm sorry. The two best words, albeit the hardest ones to say, are “I’m sorry.” It’s difficult to let the two words stand on their own. The temptation is to offer an explanation or to attempt to justify one’s actions.
