You Shall Not Murder

June 9, 2016 By Erin Beasley

“The dignity of every person is connected to the dignity of God.” — Chad Kincer, The Austin Stone

The command, “You shall not murder,” is like the other commands in that it deals with the heart. It is not one to glibly pass by; rather, it’s one to consider and reflect upon. It asks me about how I view other people and act toward them. The commandment becomes a question of identity. Do I believe God has created people in his own image? Do I treat them as his image bearers?
