The Greatest Commandment

July 20, 2016 By Erin Beasley

The Pharisees and Sadducees constantly try to trip Jesus up and inevitably end up with pie on their faces. Take when they ask Jesus what the greatest commandment is–Jesus answers simply, yet profoundly. (He always does that. It’s a thing.)

He tells them the greatest commandment is to love God with all their being. He doesn’t stop there; he continues the conversation, stating the second command is like the first: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

As a believer, the call is simple. I’m to love God with all my heart, soul, and mind and to love others as myself. They are two sides of the same coin. Love God and love others. Everything else is details.
