How Do You Publish as Frequently as You Do?

August 9, 2012 By Erin Beasley

Okay, my schedule is nothing compared to this one.I’m often asked how I publish as often as I do. It’s hard for me to understand the question. How can I not publish as often as I do? My rhythm would be out of sorts if I were to publish less often. I then wonder what the motive behind the question is. Is the person merely curious or does he or she want some sort of magic pill?

How I Tell a Story

June 22, 2012 By Erin Beasley

How I tell a story. When I write anything – be it a poem, blog post, or research paper – I am writing a story. I am sharing information in my own way. I am sharing it in order to persuade or to educate. I am sharing it based on my perspective. Thus, I highlight some details and neglect others. I’m not lying; I’m merely choosing the elements that are essential to my story.

This is Sparta: Inspiration, Creativity, and the Writing Life

June 18, 2012 By Erin Beasley

This is Sparta. Watch your step. One of the most memorable scenes in 300 occurs when King Leonidas yells, “This is Sparta!” He then promptly kicks the Persian messenger down a cavernous well. Chaos ensues; the Spartans kill the remaining Persian messengers. The scene seems somewhat illogical unless one is a Spartan (Shouldn’t the Spartans have allowed one of the messengers to survive?), but the sentiment of the king’s cry and act is all too familiar.*

Murdering the Time

The Mad Hatter at Central Park.In Alice in Wonderland, the Hatter (ostensibly not mad yet) is sentenced to death by the Queen of Hearts for “murdering the time” with the song he attempts to sing at her celebration. He escapes death, as many of the characters in the tale do, but not the attention of Time. Time is so angry with the Hatter for “killing” him that Time halts time itself, imprisoning the Hatter in time, at six p.m., the time for tea.

Why I Quit Triberr

May 4, 2012 By Erin Beasley

Delete.I deleted my Triberr account the other day. I had been debating the deletion for several weeks, and I finally had had enough. I was tired of being in a tribe that seemed to be in a stalemate. I was tired of feeling guilty for not sharing posts on a regular basis. I was tired of feeling guilty for not reading my tribe mates’ posts.

Garages, Tools, and Purpose

May 3, 2012 By Erin Beasley

How much more stuff can fit into this garage?I’m always amazed by the number of people in my neighborhood who have garages but don’t use their garages as garages. Their automobiles sit outside the garage, enduring the elements and kids with their footballs and baseballs. In some cases, other things, such as bicycles and scooters, that could and possibly should have a reserved space in the garage, don’t.
