Remember the Sabbath Day

With the fourth commandment, I was able to combine two of my art loves: illustration and handlettering. I’m somewhat happy with how the work turned out; I’ve realized I missed the “in peace” from the verse in Psalms. It bothers me since I believe it to be a critical word.

On Excellence

On Excellence -- Write RightExcellence is a subject never far from my thoughts, but it’s a higher priority one at the moment due to the Gospel and Work seminar I attended on Saturday and the excellence module I’m studying in The Austin Stone Worship Foundations course. I’m still pondering what to say about the subject–I’ve written about it previously and need to figure out a new angle–but I won’t leave people bereft of anything. I’ll share some of the thoughts found in my REAP journal, as well as some handlettering.

True Worship

This past week, we studied the second command to not create a carved image. The heart of this command is worship; if the first command is about worshipping the true God, the second is about worshipping the true God in a true way. Learning to Say No (Again) -- Write RightI struggle to say no. Part of it’s a temptation to do “all the things”; the other is a crippling need for people’s approval. Whatever the root cause, it’s devastating. I wear out, often quickly. Work becomes drudgery instead of a delight. Friendships sour.
