The more I work and the more I live, the more I realize how I need to be rooted in Christ. He gives me identity. He makes me who I am; in fact, he made me to be exactly who I am.
Everybody has a list of best, or must-have, books on writing, and I’m no exception. My books may not make everyone’s list; however, they are the ones I turn to again and again and again. They have things to say and teach me no matter how many times I read them. They correct me when I get my priorities mixed up and go astray. They center me. They remind me that I’ve been made in a certain way and with a certain purpose.
I’ve been thinking—a dangerous pastime, I know—about mission and values. I can’t stop thinking about them. I’m going through a course called Work as Worship, and my mind constantly buzzes with thoughts about identity, activities, faith, work, and entrepreneurship. I’m no data analyst, but I do know the importance of data. I recognize how it can act as rocket fuel—or, at least, a baking-soda catalyst—for marketing, PR, and advertising. It drives campaigns and initiatives to successful conclusions.

Some days don’t start right. They sputter into being. The alarm clock chirps, leaving you wondering, “What is that noise? Oh. OH.” The stumble out of bed, the walk toward coffee or the closet to grab the running shoes.
